#13: The Real Me?

I spent the day without makeup. I worked outside, I visited with a friend, I went to the bank and no-one recoiled in horror.

I appreciate the "advantage", but I felt like my face was wearing pajamas.

I need to come up with the makeup equivalent of jeans-and-tee-shirt.

  1. Summer retiree makeup would be different than winter retiree makeup, in that, when it's hot out, you don't want to wear too much. So, for a summer look, I suggest:

    - tinted moisturizer (Clinique makes a good one with SPF - good for summer)
    - brown-black mascara (more casual than black-black - waterproof is essential for sweaty summer days)
    - pinkish sheer lipstick (anything from MAC) OR a tinted SPF lip balm (Burt's Bees just came out with one)
    - and a light, light peachy blush - unless you colour naturally in the sun, in which case, I'd skip this step.

Have fun with it! Retirement is a good time to play around with weird colours of eyeliner, if that's your thing.

  2. I have to say that you have pretty well described my "regular" look right down to Burt's Bees. Coloured eyeliner might be fun, though.
